Comprehension of Sanskrit Sentences is a practical, communication-oriented course designed to help learners understand and use Sanskrit in everyday conversation. The course moves beyond the traditional study of Sanskrit grammar and literary texts by focusing on the comprehension, construction, and spoken use of simple Sanskrit sentences relevant to daily life.
Learners will gradually develop the ability to understand commonly used Sanskrit expressions, respond to questions, describe people and objects, express needs and opinions, ask for information, give instructions, and participate in simple conversations. Special attention will be given to sentence patterns, commonly used vocabulary, verb forms, pronouns, question forms, and practical expressions.
The course follows a progressive approach: learners first comprehend simple sentences, then learn to modify and construct similar sentences, and finally use them in spoken interactions. Through repeated practice and conversational exercises, students will gain confidence in thinking and communicating in Sanskrit rather than merely translating Sanskrit into another language.
